Just a little information from Dr. Crook's booklet, a
child with too much yeast can have some of the
following symptoms: constant colds, ear problems,
irritability, hyperactivity, short attention span,
behavior problems, learning problems, sleeplessness, ,
etc.
Thank you for this information - it's interesting that
my ped diagnosed my 23 month old with adhd after 4
doctors visits for ear infections - during which all he
also had reoccuring yeast infections!! Now that he is
off antibiotics, he is much better - but you can't
convince the drs this...
I feel much better will try these adjustments to his
diet at the next sign of a yeast infection! Thank you
God Bless!
ACIDOPHILUS is a good bacteria that resides in your
intestines. I heard the best yogurt for live cultures
(bacteria) is Brown Cow. You can get it at the health
food store. Another good one is Horizon, it's organic
and the sell it at health food stores as well as
Albertsons.
Just a side note, I went to the doctor a year ago with
a sinus infection. When he prescribed me an antibiotic
he told me to be sure and eat yogurt with live cultures
because the antibiotics killed good bacteria. I was
impressed my doctor told me this, however, it made me
decide not to take the antibiotic at all. Instead I
bought a sinus herbal blend from Natural Health Clinic
(a local clinic with a Dr. of Naturopathy that has
created alot of his own herbal blends, they do mail
order), I also took hyssop 3 times a day, used lavendar
oil to drain my ears and unclog my sinuses (topically
[it's very mild] and with steaming water and a towel
tent) and drank lots of water and tea (including hyssop
tea). Not to be gross, but you wouldn't believe the
mucus that came out; from everywhere.
anything in the yogurt is not good. should be plain
with live cultures Health food store would probably be
the best place to buy. Also what we do here in our home
is have the yogurt but with it I give healthy
tablespoon of fresh squeezed lemon. If anyone is
interested i have a very easy recipe for homemade
yogurt.
1/4 cup yogurt with live cultures
1 cup non-instant powdered milk
3 1/2 cups water 100-110F
1 one-quart glass or plastic jar with lid
a Tupperware quart bowl is great
electric blender
heating pad
Pour all the water in the blender measure out the
yogurt and powdered milk. mix everything together in
blender just enough to combine. skim off the foam and
then pour into your quart jar. place the heating pad on
a bath towel and then place the quart container on the
heating pad. wrap the towel around it all and there you
have it. set this in a place where it won't be
disturbed for 3 1/2 hours to 8 hours. the livelier the
culture and the warmer the heating pad the quicker the
yogurt will set. check from time to time. i find that 6
hours is good for me. refrigerate and cool completely.
remember to save 1/4cup for your next batch. what i do
is usually make it right before i go to bed and it is
ready in the morning at 6am when i get up. this is also
assures me that my little ones won't get into it.
enjoy. when not using for medicinal purposes my
children love it with honey and raisins and nuts. one
of daughters likes pure strawberry jam on hers. it
makes a wonderful salad dressing mixed with tamari and
garlic.
