Two weeks ago Charles Stanley did a sermon on
"Perseverance"....he talked about people who failed over and
over, like Thomas Edison who failed thousands of times trying
to invent the light bulb but just kept plugging along. He
made some points in reaching your goals. Here they are:
-
Accept as TRUTH God has endowed you with everything you
need.
-
Remember He has promised to make a way when there seems to
be no way.
-
Read your Bible with a red pencil and shade every verse
dealing with courage.
-
Pray the promises back to God.
-
Visualize and affirm your assets, NOT your weaknesses.
-
Stamp indelibly upon your mind the person you want to
become.
-
When you have a negative thought, replace it with a
positive thought. (He suggested writing the verses down on
index cards and keeping them in your pocket, and taking
them out and reading as needed.)
He pointed out that visualizing the person you want to become
is biblically based as long as it is within God's will. "As a
man thinks in his heart, so is he." He said the new agers
stole the idea from God, who had it first.
So, we should be seeing ourselves as already AT the healthy
weight that God would have us be.
"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed . . . " Psalm
57:7
Let's all start over today! I am! I'll see you LIGHTER next
week~~~
JOURNAL ACTIVITY: Look up the word "courage" in your Bible's
concordance or the Strong's Concordance; make a list of the
verses you find below. Study and meditate on them. If you
desire, write down on index cards the verses that will
encourage you throughout the day. Keep these verses by your
side at all times and refer to them whenever you feel
discouraged.
