Lesson 8: PerseveranceAfter a few weeks on any program to change there is a wall that we hit that says, "I can't do this anymore! This isn't working for me."
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud
of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and
the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with
PERSEVERANCE the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes
on JESUS, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the
joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and
sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider HIM
who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will
not grow weary and lose heart." Are you discouraged? Are you losing heart? The opposite of growing weary and losing heart is persevering. The definition of perseverence is "persisting in a state or enterprise in spite of difficulties and discouragement." JOURNAL ACTIVITY: Make a brief list of the difficulties you have encountered on your journey toward a healthier lifestyle and subsequent weight-loss (include any areas that you just can't seem to make progress with): JOURNAL ACTIVITY: Take a few minutes to read the following verses, recording the portions of scripture below that most encourage you:

today:_____________________________________________________________________ If you have become discouraged in your commitment to change in the area of eating and exercise, then encourage yourself in the Lord through the Word. Build yourselves up in the mighty faith. Know where you are going and determine to stay on that path until you have reached your goal. Run the race to win!!!
